It is well known that when discussing hardwood floors that Brazilian Cherry aka Koubari is one of the hardest natural hardwood flooring materials available, as well as one of the most durable. It is also renowned as one of the most scratch and dent resistant hardwoods available.

Some people have wondered however why the flooring professionals at Aladdin carpet do not recommend Brazilian Cherry be installed over a sub floor that contains a radiant heat system. The answer to this question is quite simple: the natural properties of the fine Brazilian Cherry hardwood flooring sold by Aladdin Carpets has a higher risk for splits and cracks when it is subjected to low moisture conditions, something that under floor heating will create.

One of the advantages of under floor radiant heat systems is that they are designed to efficiently deliver heat across the entire floor in a consistent manner.  Tough as Brazilian Cherry hardwood flooring is laboratory tests have demonstrated that if it is subjected to such treatment it’s moisture content tends to lower, causing premature splitting and cracking.

Aside from this particular quirk Brazilian Cherry is an excellent hardwood flooring choice for any room in your home. However if you are intending to install a subfloor equipped with a radiant heat system under a hardwood floor the professionals at Aladdin Carpet will be happy to recommend a more suitable alternative
